Campaign Responses

I appreciate Constituents’ concerns regarding a wide variety of national issues, however due to the volume of campaign emails that are now being generated on a daily basis I can no longer provide an individual reply. I have therefore created a ‘campaign emails’ section of my website and I shall be posting my responses to various subjects on to this page.

I shall endeavour to update topics as soon as I have had the chance to consult with my ministerial colleagues and conduct research into differing concerns.

I shall of course continue to respond to individual constituency casework enquiries via email and letter.

f

Tier 2 and Fareham

I sincerely appreciate your frustration following the announcement that Fareham has been designated as a ‘Tier 2’ area once national restrictions come to an end today.

g

UK International Aid

This country has been and always will be open and outward-looking, leading in solving the world's toughest problems and striving to be a force for good in the world.

d

Lockdown

As the Prime Minister said, in less than a year, this disease has killed over a million people worldwide and caused havoc to economies everywhere.

g

Church Closures

I understand the concerns that many of you in Fareham have about churches closing. As a spiritual person myself I understand the importance of communal worship and the significance that these necessary, but restrictive measures, have for our patterns of worship.

s

Beer Duty

I welcome the new measures put in place to help businesses across the country, particularly pubs. It is reassuring that no pub or other business in the hospitality sector will be required to pay business rates this year.

gffeee

Pet Microchipping

To their owners, pets are cherished members of the family and I understand that their disappearance and deaths can cause a lot of distress.

g

Overseas Operations Bill

I consider the conduct of Armed Forces personnel serving overseas with the utmost importance.

j

Pension Credit Report

I am committed to ensuring that older people receive the support they are entitled to, so they can enjoy dignity and security in their retirement.

d

Supertrawlers

I share concerns about the protection and health of British waters. Our waters are a precious natural resource and they must be managed carefully.

g

Pesticides and Trade Deals

I know the Government is committed to ensuring that future trade agreements must work for our farmers and consumers, and Ministers have firmly committed to maintaining Britain’s high environmental and food safety standards in future trade agreements.

Israel

Military Exports to Israel

I remain concerned about security in Israel and our friendship with Israel does not prohibit our criticism of some Israeli policies, nor our recognition of Israel as a thriving democracy.

sss

Planning Reforms

Our planning system needs to work for those who use it to make sure new homes, businesses and vital infrastructure are not held back by outdated, complicated and time-consuming bureaucracy.

qwf

Birds of Prey Protection

My colleagues and I recognise the conservation and economic benefits that shooting sports bring to rural communities.

Fox

Fur Imports

We are a nation of animal lovers, so it is only right that we have some of the highest welfare standards in the world. In addition to fur farming being banned in the UK, I am pleased to note that the import of fur products is tightly regulated.

f

Local Lockdowns

Coronavirus is the biggest challenge the UK has faced in decades – and we are not alone. All over the world we are seeing the devastating impact of this disease.

d

Merger of the Department for International Development and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

As many of you know, the Prime Minister has announced that the FCO and DFID will merge to create a new overseas department.

Yemen

The UK and the Situation in Yemen

I share many of your concerns regarding the crisis in Yemen and the plight of the Yemeni people who are caught up in the conflict. That is why I am proud that the UK is leading the international community to do more to respond to the crisis in Yemen.

Column

Statues, Public Monuments and Collective Heritage

I thought it would be useful to outline the Government’s view on the heated debate in the last week about the removal of public monuments due to the past views or actions of those historic figures.

Upholding the rule of law

a

Protecting UK Food Standards Following Brexit

Suella has been contacted by many constituents following recent media reports that UK food standards will be lowered as part of future trade deals.

NHS

NHS Worker's Pay Rise

I believe that the passion, commitment, and specialist knowledge of our NHS staff is part of what makes our NHS so special. I recognise that staff morale is vital to maintaining staff commitment to services.

Schools

Phased School Openings

As the Government begins to slowly and cautiously lift some of the restrictions, it hopes to be able to return some pupils to school. This will not happen any earlier than 1 June, and only if the five key tests set by Government justify the changes at the time.
