All too often we hear about the problems that can accompany the ageing process, including loneliness and isolation. In my opinion too little is being done to tackle these issues. I have therefore decided to host a fair to bring together the huge variety of interests and activity groups that we have in our community, enabling people to browse at leisure and chat with representatives from different organisations.
Details of the event are below:
Date: Friday 17 November between
Time: 10:30-13:30
Venue: Fareham College (Sports Hall), Bishopsfield Road, Fareham PO14 1NH
Admittance to the fair is free and it is not necessary to pre-book. Everyone is welcome, regardless of age.
There is onsite parking and the venue is located close to Fareham Train Station and on the main bus routes.
A variety of organisations will be attending the event as stallholders, including health and fitness, hobbies, voluntary services, home support, financial, bereavement services. Demonstrations will also be held on stage, including an exercise class aimed at the more mature participant. These classes include balance exercises to help prevent trips and falls and can be done standing or sat in a chair. I will also have a stall at the fair so that residents can have a chat with me and share any concerns.
