Patriot: Empire, betrayal, and hope
Here is my story of my career in the Law, then entering politics as a Conservative Member of Parliament in 2015, serving as Attorney-General and holding one of the Great Offices of State: Home Secretary.
I was at the table during some of the seismic political events in the last decade like Brexit and Covid and witnessed first-hand the Great Betrayals by the Conservative Party in government. In January 2026 I left the Conservative Party and joined Reform UK where I am now spokesman for Education, Skills and Equalities. In this book I write candidly and openly about my political career and my colleagues, experiences in government and my aspirations for the future.
In this book, as in my public statements, I makes no secret of my beliefs and my wishes for the people I represent in parliament, in my constituency, and the country. Through it all, one thing is constant: my gratitude to Great Britain and the British people.

I was born and raised with a strong sense of duty to our country and the belief that Britain should be a place where hard work, honesty and common sense are rewarded.
Having served as Attorney General and Home Secretary, I’ve seen first-hand how Westminster and Whitehall too often forget the people they’re meant to serve. That’s why I joined Reform UK, to put the public back in charge, restore integrity to politics, and make Britain work again for ordinary people. Reform UK offers the hope and change that this country needs to once again be a place we can be proud of.
