New funding to support the silent victims of alcohol abuse

I have welcomed a move by the Government to identify and support children living with alcohol dependent parents.

New plans announced today by Health & Social Care Secretary Jeremy Hunt will aim to identify children at risk more quickly and provide swift support and guidance.

Furze Court

I met residents of Furze Court, a residential complex of three properties to the north of Fareham town, who are concerned for their safety and have listed a large number of potential risks.

New funding for Hampshire's roads

Roads across the country will benefit from a further £100 million to repair potholes and storm damage, which is estimated to help repair almost 2 million potholes as well as help protect the roads from any future severe weather.

Deposit return scheme

A deposit return scheme to increase recycling rates and slash the amount of waste polluting our land and seas will be introduced subject to consultation later this year.

Welcoming Connie and Geoff Hockley to Parliament

I was delighted to welcome former Fareham Mayor Cllr Connie Hockley and her husband Cllr Geoff Hockley to the Palace of Westminster, where they watched PMQs. Afterwards, we were also able to visit No.10 Downing Street.

Ban on ivory sales

Today, Environment Secretary Michael Gove confirmed that the UK will introduce a ban on ivory sales.

The proposed ban will be the toughest in Europe and amongst the toughest in the world – helping to protect elephants for future generations.
