Reopen Hurstwood Woodland

Hurstwood Woodland has been closed since the beginning of May, leaving residents unable to walk their dogs or enjoy this green space. Suella Braverman MP is calling on Havant Borough Council to complete the work and reopen the woodland without further delay.

Havant Borough Council closed Hurstwood Woodland to allow for the removal of trees infected with ash dieback, a serious disease that does require action. That decision was the right one.

But the closure began in early May and, weeks later, there is still no clarity on whether work has actually started, or when residents will be able to return. Families, dog walkers, and people who rely on this green space for their daily wellbeing are being left in the dark.

"I'm not satisfied with the response I've received from Havant Borough Council. Come on,  hurry up, fix the problem, and reopen Hurstwood Woodland."

Three clear asks for Havant Borough Council

1. Confirm work has started Residents deserve to know whether ash dieback removal is already underway or still pending.

2. Publish a firm reopening date An open-ended closure with no timeline is not good enough. Give the community a date to plan around.

3. Communicate regularly. Update residents on progress.
