Supporting the police

Keeping our streets safe has always been one of my top priorities. Too many people in Fareham, Waterlooville and across the country are fed up with antisocial behaviour, vandalism, intimidation, and disorder that blight communities and make decent people feel unsafe.

We need firm action, not empty promises, to restore pride and order in our towns.

During my time as Home Secretary, I worked closely with police forces across England and Wales, recruiting thousands of new officers and ensuring they had the powers and backing to do their jobs effectively. I’ve seen first‑hand the dedication and bravery of our police, but I also know how frustrating it can be when the justice system fails to deliver swift consequences for offenders. That has to change.

Here in Fareham and Waterlooville and across Hampshire, I’ve been working with our local policing teams who do a fantastic job under pressure , tackling shoplifting, street crime and antisocial behaviour every day but they need more visible support and stronger tools to deal with repeat offenders who cause misery for residents.

I’ll keep campaigning for more officers on the beat, quicker responses to reports, and a zero‑tolerance approach to crime in our communities.

I’ll continue to press for tougher enforcement, visible policing, and stronger support for victims. Law‑abiding people deserve to feel safe in their homes and communities — and I’ll always stand up for those who do the right thing and want to live in peace.
