Reopening Henry Cort & SEND

I’m campaigning to see Henry Cort College reopened and transformed into a dedicated SEND facility giving children with special educational needs and disabilities the care, support, and specialist education they deserve. For too long, families in Fareham and the surrounding areas have struggled to access properly resourced local provision. Parents shouldn’t have to fight the system just to get the right support for their child. We can and must do better.

My vision for SEND provision nationally is simple: compassion, clarity, and fairness. That means funding that actually reaches the classroom, earlier intervention to identify needs before problems escalate, and an end to the postcode lottery that leaves some families waiting months or even years for support. We should value every child, recognise their potential, and make sure schools have the training and resources to give them the best possible education.

This is about our values as a country. Britain should be a place where every child is given dignity, opportunity, and a fair chance in life. By reopening Henry Cort as a dedicated SEND facility, we can lead by example, putting our children first and proving that when a community stands up for what’s right, we can build something truly life‑changing.
