Residents of Berewood in Waterlooville deserve the healthcare facilities they were promised, and I am determined to ensure they get them.

When planning permission for the Berewood development was granted 14 years ago, over 1,100 homes were built on the understanding that a new GP surgery would be provided for the community. A further 1,450 homes are still set to be built. Yet, incredibly, that promised health centre is no closer to becoming a reality.

The reason? A dispute has arisen between the NHS Hampshire & Isle of Wight Integrated Care Board and developer Grainger, with both parties believing the other is responsible for building the facility. Meanwhile, local residents are being left without adequate primary care provision and without answers.

This is simply not good enough. Schools and playgrounds were delivered as promised, there is no excuse for the surgery to be treated any differently. Families who bought their homes here were told a health centre would be part of the community. That promise must be honoured.

That is why I have personally met with both Grainger and the ICB, and I am now calling on all parties, the ICB, Grainger, Winchester City Council and Havant Borough Council, to come together for urgent talks so that we can agree a way forward and deliver the health centre that the people of Newlands have been waiting far too long for.

Frankly, local residents are being let down. I will not stop pushing until this is resolved.
