We are a nation of animal lovers, so it is only right that we have some of the highest welfare standards in the world. In addition to fur farming being banned in the UK, I am pleased to note that the import of fur products is tightly regulated.
Coronavirus is the biggest challenge the UK has faced in decades – and we are not alone. All over the world we are seeing the devastating impact of this disease.
I share many of your concerns regarding the crisis in Yemen and the plight of the Yemeni people who are caught up in the conflict. That is why I am proud that the UK is leading the international community to do more to respond to the crisis in Yemen.
I thought it would be useful to outline the Government’s view on the heated debate in the last week about the removal of public monuments due to the past views or actions of those historic figures.
I believe that the passion, commitment, and specialist knowledge of our NHS staff is part of what makes our NHS so special. I recognise that staff morale is vital to maintaining staff commitment to services.
As the Government begins to slowly and cautiously lift some of the restrictions, it hopes to be able to return some pupils to school. This will not happen any earlier than 1 June, and only if the five key tests set by Government justify the changes at the time.
The NHS is a vital service, and one we all care about deeply. My mother worked as a nurse for 45 years, so it is particularly close to my heart. Doctors and nurses do an amazing job and want what is best for their patients, and we in return rely on being able to access dedicated healthcare where and when we need it.
I am working hard with local employers, colleges and schools to ensure that our young people have access to high-quality technical and vocational training. I have supported increased funding for apprenticeships, building on the excellent potential at Fareham College and CEMAST, and am pleased that the government is continuing to back this excellent form of training.
